The story of a college basketball player with an inoperable brain tumor has grabbed national attention and now she’s earned praise from the country’s biggest NBA star. Lauren Hill, a freshman at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, scored her team’s first basket of the season in her first collegiate game on Sunday. Hill has only a few months to live, but was recruited for the team before she was diagnosed last year with a brain tumor. At the 10,000-strong sold-out game against Hiram College, Hill scored within the first 17 seconds. Not only was famed college basketball coach Pat Summitt in attendance, but LeBron James has praised Hill. “Thank you for inspiring me and I’ll try my best to match you!” he tweeted along with a message that he was sending Hill a package.
