Jessica Simpson is the latest pregnant star to pose in the buff on the cover of a magazine, wearing nothing except for flashy jewelry and posing in the exact same position as Demi Moore in her infamous 1991 Vanity Fair cover. Her burgeoning baby bump isn’t the only thing the Fashion Star reveals in the April issue of Elle magazine. She had a hunch about the baby’s sex back in December, but now Jess has confirmed that she and fiancé Eric Johnson are indeed having a girl. The shoe maven’s only concern? “I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” she told the magazine. “Eric is so athletic,” she says of the former NFL player. “We’re gonna have this athletic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping.” Simpson also said she and Johnson have decided on a “nontraditional” name for their baby, but “it’s nothing shocking and nothing you’ll have to add to the dictionary.” Simpson looks beautiful on the cover and Elle did a pretty bang-up job recreating Moore’s pose, but the picture leaves us wondering: What happened to Jessica’s belly button??
As the due date for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s twins neared, the Grammy-winning singer decided to show off her pregnant belly on the cover of Life & Style magazine. "I was feeling very vulnerable about taking pictures at all right now, but then I didn't want to miss this opportunity to document this once-in-a-lifetime experience," Carey told the tabloid. "My ultimate goal was to share this incredibly personal moment with my true fans." Cannon, who is 12 years Carey’s junior, said he has “a whole new appreciation and admiration” for his wife of three years. Throughout the photoshoot, Carey said her baby boy and baby girl were kicking. "Especially the girl—clearly she's a diva in training!" But Cannon regretted the revealing shots. "My children are going to have to see these pictures," he said on his radio show. "It's a little weird... it's a little nasty. I mean, have you ever seen your parents naked?"

Just three months after Miranda Kerr confirmed her pregnancy, the Australian Victoria’s Secret Angel decided to strip down for W magazine’s December 2010 family issue. “For me, family is life,” said the 27-year-old model, who married the baby’s father, actor Orlando Bloom, in July 2010. “The decision to start one wasn’t complex at all.” Kerr posed for W six and a half months pregnant in Paris, but is aware that traveling may have to take a back seat to her new role as a mother. “My career has been wonderful, but it’s not my life. I don’t feel pressure to get back to work… My goal involves a hammock, a vegetable patch, and a solar-powered house. And I hope to eventually get there.”

But, according to Moore, that now infamous photograph of the then-pregnant 28-year-old wasn’t supposed to be on the cover of the magazine at all. "Annie had photographed me pregnant with all three (daughters). The shot that ended up being on the cover of Vanity Fair wasn't even done for the magazine. It was just for me and our family,” Moore told V Magazine. The cover quickly became controversial—some copies were wrapped in paper as if the photo wasn’t appropriate for newsstands. Since its debut nearly two decades ago, dozens of magazines have copied the pose.
Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair may have come first, but Lisa Rinna was the first pregnant woman ever to grace the cover of Playboy magazine. In 1998, she posed in just a sweater on the cover of the magazine while six months pregnant with her daughter, Delilah Belle. More risqué photos were included inside. Rinna must have been pleased with the experience: she graced the magazine’s cover 11 years later, this time in a tight body suit, at the age of 45. Her husband Harry Hamlin approved of the second photo shoot, saying he was “happy other people will be able to see her on the cover.”

Before my pregnancies, I was someone who had to watch their weight. When I was breastfeeding it just came off. I can eat whatever I want…I will lose weight."
Thomas Beatie, otherwise known as “The Pregnant Man,” underwent gender reassignment surgery, but still kept his reproductive organs. So when he and his wife, Nancy, decided to have a baby, Thomas carried the child, and Nancy subsequently breastfed. Thomas posed naked and pregnant for The Advocate during his first pregnancy. The couple is currently expecting their third child.
Paramount Pictures was sued by Annie Leibovitz for parodying her famous Demi pregnant photo for the movie poster of Nielsen’s 1994 film Naked Gun 33 1/3. The court ruled in favor of Paramount, adding further insult to injury by writing that the "ad may reasonably be perceived, as commenting on the seriousness and even pretentiousness of the original.”
