In August 1951, then–Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip appear with 2-year-old Prince Charles and Princess Anne, who was a year old.

Princess Elizabeth, now Queen Elizabeth II, and Prince Philip leave Westminster Abbey, after their wedding on November 20, 1947. The ceremony was broadcast by the BBC to 200 million people around the world.

On June 2, 1953, newly crowned Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip wave at the crowds from the balcony at Buckingham Palace. The U.K. had a major celebration in 2012, the diamond jubilee of the queen’s 1952 ascension to the throne upon her father’s death.

Prince Philip is pictured as a boy, puttering around the school boat, called Prince Louis. He later served in the Royal Navy and was involved in the Battle of Crete, the invasion of Sicily, and in the Pacific theater.
