Prince William met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday in the first official visit in a generation to mainland China by a senior British royal. The prince gave Xi an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II to formally invite the president to visit Britain this year. William’s three-day diplomatic trip includes a visit to Beijing, Shanghai, and China’s Yunnan province near Myanmar. “I look forward to meeting Her Majesty and other British leaders during the visit and to jointly plan out the future of Sino-British relations,” Xi said.
