ESPN reports an assistant coach at San Antonio’s John Jay High School admitted to his school principal that he ordered football players to deliberately tackle a referee during a game as retribution for racist language. Mack Breed said he “directed the students to make the referee pay for his racial comments and calls,” according to a statement signed by principal Robert Harris. The players, 15-year-old Victor Rojas and 17-year-old Michael Moreno, face disciplinary hearings. The referee, Robert Watts, was heard using the N-word twice during the Sept. 4 game, as well as language derogatory to Hispanics, according to sources on the sideline who spoke to ESPN.
