This again? The California State Supreme Court has been flung into another battle over gay marriage as it considers a motion filed on Friday by supporters of Proposition 8. ProtectMarriage, the original backers of the 2008 measure, requested in the motion for same-sex marriages to be stopped immediately on the grounds that California Governor Jerry Brown lacks the authority to order clerks to issue such marriage licenses. The court asked Brown Friday night to respond to the request, which contends that the 2010 federal injunction against Prop 8 did not apply statewide. Can't they just let it go?
