Dozens of protesters stormed an Amazon Books store on 34th Street in Manhattan on Cyber Monday, protesting the company’s choice to establish a new headquarters in Long Island City, Queens. Video of the protest, tweeted by PIX11 reporter Cristian Benavides, shows people streaming into the store chanting, “G-T-F-O, Amazon has got to go!” This protest comes as part of a larger backlash against the company’s planned Queens headquarters, which advocates believe will hike up prices in adjacent neighborhoods and make transportation worse in a city already infamous for its crumbling subway system.
