Penn State’s trustees aren’t exactly happy with the harsh sanctions the NCAA imposed upon their school’s football program this week, but at least they didn’t get the "death penalty,” which was a real possibility. A university spokesman said that during discussions between Penn State’s president and NCAA officials, the death penalty, a four-year ban on all football, was floated. Meanwhile, Penn State’s primary liability-insurance provider has filed suit against the school claiming it should be denied coverage for failing to act on the information it had on Jerry Sandusky’s behavior.
