Two female University of Purdue students say they were expelled from the school for reporting their sexual assaults. In a federal lawsuit filed this week, women using the pseudonyms Jane Doe and Mary Roe claim the university secretly turned its investigation on the alleged victims after they reported their sexual assaults last year. The school expelled both women for false or malicious reporting, but later reduced their punishments to a two-year suspension. Lawyers for the two women claim the school “treated the plaintiffs as if they were the accused harassers” and punished them for making protected Title IX complaints. Purdue spokesman Tim Doty told The Daily Beast the school had not been served with the lawsuit and did not have comment at this time.
