Former Russian president and current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, set to be president again next year, said through a statement that he promises to listen to protesters' demands after as many as 150,000 people turned out Saturday for the biggest rally in Moscow since the fall of the USSR. Demonstrators allege fraud by Putin's party in last week's parliamentary polls, and Putin's spokesman released an email statement, saying, "We respect the point of view of the protesters." But no concrete actions to address fraud claims have been promised so far.
