On the night before talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out against the U.S. and its sanctions, saying, “We hope that our partners will realize the recklessness of attempts to blackmail Russia, will remember the risks that a spat between major nuclear powers incurs for strategic stability.” Putin, speaking to a Serbian paper, said the sanctions were hurting the ability to forge a new peace.
