It was only a matter of time that Thomas Pynchon took on the kaleidoscopic mashup pop culture of today, the one in part created by the tech startups of Manhattan's Silicon Alley. The elusive master is set to published a new book, Bleeding Edge, on September 17, the Penguin Press announced Monday. The novel will be set in 2001, in “the lull between the collapse of the dot-com boom and the terrible events of September 11,” the press release said. All eyes are on the possible 21st-century Gravity’s Rainbow.
