Queen Elizabeth II sure knows how to party: To mark the English monarch’s 60th year on the throne in 2012, Buckingham Palace announced today plans for a four-day celebration. The lavish ceremonies will include a flotilla of 1,000 boats along the Thames; a concert at the palace; a chain of 2,012 beacons to be lit across the United Kingdom; and a carriage procession to St. Paul’s Cathedral. The government has set up a four-day weekend for the festivities, moving a May bank holiday to June to give well-wishers time to celebrate.
