Rachel Dolezal, the president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP, postponed a meeting slated for Monday at which she was to address recent revelations that she is white and has been falsely portraying herself as a black woman. In a statement on Facebook on Sunday, the chapter said the meeting would be rescheduled “due to the need to continue discussion with regional and national NAACP leaders.” No rescheduled date was provided. Dolezal came under fire after her parents revealed she had been posing as a black woman for years while her adopted brother Ezra Dolezal confirmed the allegation, calling her actions a “slap in the face” to African Americans. “She puts dark makeup on her face and says she black,” Ezra Dolezal told BuzzFeed News. “It’s basically blackface.”
