If you were wondering, race does matter in the Trayvon Martin case. A Washington Post–ABC News poll showed that reactions to the Zimmerman verdict were split across racial lines. Eighty-six percent of African-Americans disapproved, while 51 percent of whites didn’t have a problem with his acquittal. It’s also divided across party lines: 22 percent of Democrats approved, while 65 percent of Republicans approved. The report that George Zimmerman saved someone from a truck crash did not factor into the poll.
