Under-fire White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel may soon be out of a job, but he seems to know where he would like to land next. Confirming the rumors, Emanuel said he would like to run for mayor of Chicago at some point—the next election is in 2011. "I hope Mayor Daley seeks reelection,” he told Charlie Rose on PBS Monday. “I will work and support him if he seeks reelection. But if Mayor Daley doesn't, one day I would like to run for mayor of the city of Chicago. ... That's always been an aspiration of mine even when I was in the House of Representatives.” Emanuel had once aspired to be Speaker of the House, but now says that those dreams are “over.” The main draw of Chicago’s top job, he said, was the daily contact with constituents.
