This shouldn’t come as a surprise for those familiar with Brett Ratner’s reputation. After making a series of inappropriate remarks on Howard Stern's radio show, the Tower Heist director was forced to relinquish his role as producer of this year’s Academy Awards. Discussing his sex life with Stern didn’t reflect well on the Academy, but jaws dropped when he told the radio host in reference to the awards show, “Rehearsal is for fags.” In a statement released Tuesday, Ratner apologized for the “hurtful and stupid things I said” and announced he would not be producing this year’s Oscars. He added that he was “grateful to GLAAD for engaging me in a dialogue about what we can do together to increase the awareness of the important and troubling issues this episode has raised.”
