The president has been very outspoken about his dislike for the 17th century classic, which is studied in many classrooms. But public readings of the book have skyrocketed, and publishers sold out of the novel at the Paris book fair this week. Badges emblazoned with the words “I am reading La Princesse de Cleves” were also a must-have item. Sorry, Nick!
