Ronald Reagan would be “appalled and heartbroken” by the Trump presidency, according to his daughter Patty Davis. In a letter published in The Washington Post to mark the anniversary of the former president’s death in 2004, Davis said her dad would be “horrified at where we’ve come to.” She wrote that Reagan would be angered by “a Congress that refuses to stand up to a president who not only seems ignorant of the Constitution, but who also attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances.” Davis, 65, doesn’t mention Trump by name but does mention of how she’d once publicly criticized her father, saying that her attending demonstrations against the then-president “wounded him.”
