Rebels Seize Yemen’s Third Largest City

Shiite militants known as Houthis.

Shiite rebels known as Houthis have seized the third largest city in Yemen as well as its airport. The rebels, backed by supporters of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, were faces by thousands of protesters in the streets of Taiz. The rebels dispersed them by firing into the air and beating at them with batons. The seizure comes a day after U.S. troops evacuated a southern air base.
