Reddit and Google are taking a harder line on unauthorized nude photos in the wake of “The Fappening”—the fall 2014 rash of nude photos of celebrities that hackers posted online. In a statement posted Tuesday, Reddit said it will remove photos, videos, and links with sexually explicit content if the person in the image has not given permission for it to be posted, while Google plans to ban most nude photos and videos from public sites on its Blogger service. The new policies are a change of tune for the services, which both previously took a lax approach to regulating online content posted in forums. Reddit’s changes will take effect March 10 while Google’s Blogger will begin its new policy March 23.
