Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid insisted Saturday night that a debt deal was not near, while House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Saturday afternoon that they had been “fully engaged” with President Obama about the debt-ceiling talks.
