Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus suggested on Sunday that former GOP presidential candidates who are refusing to back Donald Trump could be punished by the party if they want to seek the White House in a future election. “Those people need to get on board,” Priebus said on Face the Nation. “And if they’re thinking they’re going to run again some day, I think that we’re going to evaluate the process of the nomination process, and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them.” When asked by host John Dickerson if the party will levy direct penalties on candidates like Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush and John Kasich who have not backed Trump, Priebus said that is something the GOP will consider. “People who gave us their word, used information from the RNC, should be on board,” he added.
