Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) said Friday that a prominent sitting senator groped her decades ago. The sexual misconduct allegedly happened during Dingell’s first year of marriage to former U.S. Rep. John Dingell, when she was seated next to the senator at a dinner party. “The hand kept going up my leg. I took it off,” she said on CNN. “A woman member recognized what was happening and got up from the table and said, ‘Switch places.’ You know, we watch out for each other. He would be aggressive, not only towards me, everybody on Capitol Hill knew it.” Dingell, who was elected in 2014, did not name the senator but said he is considered a “historical” figure.
