U.S. Representative and civil-rights leader John Lewis on Wednesday said that if Donald Trump believes nothing has changed for black Americans, “I invite him to come and walk a mile in my shoes.” The remark came after a Trump rally in North Carolina on Wednesday in which the Republican presidential candidate said, “Our African-American communities are absolutely in the worst shape that they’ve ever been in before. Ever, ever, ever.” Trump polls very low among black voters, in some areas as low as 1 percent. At rallies, Trump will often ask black voters, “What do you have to lose?” by voting for him.
