Apple is preparing three versions of the iPad to be sold in 2011. The different iterations will support varied combinations of ways to access the Internet, Wi-Fi, UMTS and/or CDMA. Production on the new models will begin in late January, and will also include improvements to the anti-smudge and anti-reflective treatments to help compete against the Kindle. Sources estimate that Apple will ship out 40 million units of the iPad 2 in 2011, accounting for more than 65 percent of the computer tablet market.
