Report: Baby Hope ID’d as Angelica Ramirez

FINALLY

22-year-old cold case got a break this week.

After 22 years, New York police finally identified Baby Hope, one of the city’s most famous cold cases. Her name was Angelica Ramirez, the New York Post reported Thursday. The little girl, believed to have been between ages 3 and 5, was found tied up in a cooler along a New York highway in 1991, likely having been strangled to death. Police also found evidence of sexual abuse. A tipster recently came forward, saying she knew Baby Hope’s sister, and police were able to track down the girl’s mother, who said she never reported the girl missing because she feared her abusive husband. Police are now investigating the girl’s father.
