Sgt. Sean Murphy, a tactical photographer for the Massachusetts State Police, has been relieved of duty, though not fired, after releasing bloody images of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev moments before his capture. Murphy’s move was in direct response to the controversial Rolling Stone cover, which some say portrayed the suspected Boston bomber as a rock star. “I hope that the people who see these images will know that this was real. It was as real as it gets. This may have played out as a television show, but this was not a television show,” the photographer said. “What Rolling Stone did was wrong. This guy is evil. This is the real Boston bomber.” An internal investigation into Murphy’s actions has reportedly begun.
