The Federal Bureau of Investigation reportedly monitored social media on Election Day last year in an attempt to track a suspected Russian disinformation campaign using "fake news," according to a CNN report. Additionally, counterintelligence analysts were keeping an eye on social media at the same time and suspected that some social media accounts behind fake news stories were part of a broader Russian disinformation campaign.
