President-elect Donald Trump will appoint former CNBC host Larry Kudlow to chair the White House Council of Economic Advisers, the Detroit News reported on Thursday. Fellow conservative economist Stephen Moore revealed the news during a luncheon with the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s economic club. “And who better than Larry? He’s one of the great economists in this country,” said Moore, who was an economic adviser to the Trump campaign. Kudlow hosted The Kudlow Report on CNBC for five years, between 2009 and 2014, before the show ended and he became a senior contributor to the business news network. Kudlow served as associate director for economics and planning in the Office of Management and Budget during President Ronald Reagan’s first term. In June 2002, Kudlow infamously advocated for an invasion of Iraq as a means to rally the stock market. Moore later backed off his remarks, telling Detroit News that “isn’t a done deal and I jumped the gun.”
