The intellectual godfather of Donald Trump’s Muslim immigration ban is reportedly set to join Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign team as a foreign-policy adviser. Frank Gaffney—best known as D.C.’s most notorious Islamophobe—will serve among Cruz’s national-security advisory team, Bloomberg View reported Thursday. Gaffney last came under national scrutiny in December when Trump cited his think tank’s controversial study. The infamous anti-Islam activist has spent several years warning of “creeping Sharia” in the United States, and has repeatedly alleged that high-profile members of the Obama administration are proxies of the Muslim Brotherhood, among other bizarre accusations.
