President Trump is set to ask German Chancellor Angela Merkel for advice on how to deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Ukraine conflict, U.S. officials told Reuters on Friday. Merkel is set to visit the White House next Tuesday—marking her first visit since Trump’s inauguration—and according to Reuters they will also discuss defense funds for NATO, the Syrian refugee crisis, and the European Union. Trump and Merkel have previously differed in public over their views on accepting refugees and dealing with Putin.
