The White House is quietly working to reduce legal immigration to the United States, Politico reports. The effort is reportedly being led by top White House adviser Stephen Miller, who is working with Republican Sens. Tom Cotton and David Perdue. The proposal, to be introduced in Congress this summer, would reportedly cut the number of legal immigrants entering the U.S. in half each year by 2027. “[Cotton and Perdue] are working with President Trump to fix our immigration system so that instead of undercutting American workers, it will support them and their livelihoods,” a spokeswoman for Cotton said.
