If Anthony Weiner’s mayoral campaign seemed like a reality show, maybe it’s because it was an audition. According to The New York Observer, Weiner explored whether he could make the jump to either television or radio prior to launching his mayoral bid. In February 2013, two months before he began floating the idea of running for mayor, Weiner was talking with agents to find out whether losing the mayor’s race would hurt his chances to land a spot on TV or radio. Before he was forced to resign from Congress because of his sexting scandal, Weiner was a regular on the cable-news circuit.
