The freelancer who wrote a seemingly sympathetic profile of convicted rapist cop Daniel Holtzclaw for sports blog SB Nation has apologized following the piece's retraction. "Now that I have some distance on the piece, I see that it presented a lopsided account that failed to acknowledge the suffering of Mr. Holtzclaw’s victims," Jeff Arnold wrote in a lengthy note. "For that, I apologize." The controversial article—which Arnold claimed was vetted by four editors—talked about convicted serial rapist Holtzclaw's struggles to get into the NFL, and gave positive testimonials about the ex-cop's character from former teammates and friends.
