On Friday, former Texas Governor Rick Perry announced he was seceding from the 2016 Republican presidential race. “We have a tremendous field – the best in a generation – so I step aside knowing our party is in good hands, and as long as we listen to the grassroots, the cause of conservatism will be too,” he told the Eagle Forum on Friday afternoon. Perry had been polling in low numbers in his second attempt at the presidential nomination.
