Has Michael Steele dodged a bullet yet again? The Republican National Committee has fired a staffer it says tagged along with the young donors who spent nearly $2,000 at a bondage-themed sex club in West Hollywood and then expensed it to the RNC. Ken McKay, the RNC chief of staff, said in a leaked email that the fired person, director of the Young Eagles program Allison Meyers, “was aware that this activity was not eligible for reimbursement and had been previously counseled on this very subject.” Also, the man who filed the expense, party donor Erik Brown, has agreed to repay the RNC. The club in question, meanwhile, would prefer you stop calling it a sex club. “We cater to a high-end, A-list clientele with live art installations with a voyeuristic theme,” the club’s director of special events tells The New York Times.
