The Republican National Committee has written a letter the Government Accountability Office requesting an investigation into President Obama's recent trips, such as those he's taken this week to North Carolina and Iowa. The president's campaign is required to reimburse the government for any campaign-related travel, according to the Federal Election Commission. White House Spokesman Eric Schultz has responded to the letter, arguing that "this week's travel has been part of the President's official responsibility to get outside of Washington, DC, hear from students, and discuss stopping interest rates on their loans from doubling in July." Obama's campaign manager also weighed in, assuring reporters that the DNC would pay for political travel.
