Roger Federer on Sunday defeated Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final, extending his number of Grand Slam singles titles to 18. The 35-year-old has now won five Australian Open finals, making him the first man to win at least five championships at three different Grand Slams—the other two being Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. After defeating Nadal, Federer told him, “Tennis needs you. Keep doing everything you do.”
