Romney, Perry Pull Ahead at Debate

It was a two-man show. Wednesday night’s debate turned into a duel between Mitt Romney and Rick Perry, much to the annoyance of the other six candidates (Ron Paul complained about his lack of questions). So who won? While many in the press choose Romney, Jonathan Chait at The New Republic makes the case for Perry: “Perry, stylistically, ruled the roost,” he writes. “Perry treats questions as interruptions … His total liberation from the constraints of reason gives Perry a chance to represent the Republican id in a way Romney simply cannot match.”
