Surprised? At 5:40 pm EST, Mitt Romney officially became the Republican Party’s 2012 presidential nominee, six years after his quest began. In the traditional roll-call vote of the party’s delegates, Romney passed the required threshold of 1, 144 delegates after receiving 50 votes from New Jersey.
