Rupert Murdoch is certainly getting a lot of use out of his Twitter account. The media mogul used the social media site on Saturday night to square off with President Obama over online piracy. The White House said in statement Saturday that the president would not sign certain aspects of the controversial online piracy legislation going through the House and Senate, particularly the part of the bill that allows interference with the Domain Name System (DNS). Just prior to the White House’s statement, Texas Congressman Lamar Smith said the DNS provision would be dropped from the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, the House bill. But Murdoch, whose Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox is one of the companies leading the charge for SOPA, launched into a tirade against Obama, saying the president had “thrown his lot in with Silicon Valley paymasters who threaten all software creators with piracy, plain thievery.”
