According to NATO, the Russian military moved artillery units with Russian military personnel into Ukraine over the past few days and is firing on Ukrainian forces. This is the first time the West has evidence of direct involvement by the Russian military in Ukraine. The equipment includes “Russian airborne, air defense and special operations forces in Eastern Ukraine” moved in since mid-August. The evidence of Russian military personnel comes on the same day as a convoy of Russian trucks carrying humanitarian supplies crossed into Ukraine without permission.
