Bernie Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver addressed allegations that his team had obtained private voter data collected by the rival Hillary Clinton campaign. Accusing the Democratic National Committee of failing to protect data, Weaver said the DNC is holding the Sanders campaign’s own data “hostage” by suspending its access to the database as a result of the allegations. Weaver reiterated that the Sanders campaign fired the staffer who had accessed the Clinton data, and, he maintained, his campaign has no desire to run a “dirty” campaign. “We are announcing today that if the DNC continues to hold our data hostage and continues to attack the heart and soul of our grassroots campaign, we will be in federal court this afternoon seeking immediate relief,” Weaver concluded.
