South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley signed a bill Thursday removing the Confederate Flag from statehouse grounds. The flag will be removed in a ceremony Friday morning. The state's House of Representatives approved a bill to remove the flag on Thursday night in a 94-20 vote. Members deliberated for more than 13 hours Wednesday, including in a tearful speech by white Republican Rep. Jenny Horne, with some Republicans proposing amendments to the bill to honor their Southern ancestors. Altering the Senate bill would have further delayed the removal of the flag.
