S.C. Mystery Candidate’s Felony Charge

If the political gods have a sense of humor, Alvin Greene will find a way to be elected to the Senate this fall. The Democratic nominee from South Carolina, who was unemployed and entirely unknown before he somehow won his party’s nomination on Tuesday, is now in trouble because of a pending felony charge. Greene is charged with showing pornographic images to a University of South Carolina student. The chairwoman of the state party has asked Greene to step down, but he has vowed to stay in the race. South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, meanwhile, thinks that Greene is a “plant.”
