Scientists have discovered what they believe to be the oldest object in the universe—a galaxy that formed 600 million years after the Big Bang. It’s called UDFy-38135539, it’s 13 billion light-years from earth, and it was discovered by the Hubble telescope in 2006. It took four years of calculation to date it. Scientists expect that there are even older galaxies, which formed just 200 million years after the Big Bang.
