Scotland’s first minister will seek the approval of the Scottish parliament to hold a second referendum on independence between fall 2018 and spring 2019. Nicola Sturgeon said Monday that Scotland should get another chance to break away from the United Kingdom after the Scottish people overwhelmingly voted to stay in the European Union while the majority of the country’s voters backed Brexit. “I will now take the steps necessary to make sure that Scotland will have a choice at the end of this process,” Sturgeon said. London will have to approve the decision to hold another referendum.
