While dozens of governors and congressmen are standing for election today, the biggest prize of the 2014 midterms is the Senate—and the winner may not be known tomorrow or even this month. Republicans need to gain six seats to win control of America's upper chamber for the first time since 2006. Polls indicate that outcome looks likely but runoffs are probable in two competitive states and several more races are so close that absentee and provisional ballots may determine the victor. The expected runoff in Louisiana wouldn't happen until Dec. 6 and Georgia's would take place a month later in the new year. What's more, Kansas independent Greg Orman could vote with Republicans or Democrats if he wins, but he hasn't said which way he'll go.
