Senate Kills Obama Infrastructure Plan

The Senate blocked a $60 billion infrastructure plan on Thursday, which had been part of President Obama’s larger jobs bill. The plan would have allotted $50 billion on highway, rail, and airport improvements and another $10 billion to launch a new infrastructure bank. The bill was blocked by a vote of 51-49. Obama said, “It makes no sense when you consider that this bill was made up of the same kinds of common-sense proposals that many of these senators have fought for in the past. It was fully paid for.”
